Web conferencing tool that helps businesses with instant messaging, voice & video calls, voice messaging, desktop sharing, conferencing, and more.
Jabber is very easy to use and it shows all the contacts grouped as our comfort. we can view the contacts profile, online status, we can tag the contact to get alert when contact comes online. Also, there is an link on contact to send mail or meeting through webex. we can update our profile name and profile data and preferred display name. the screen share feature is very useful especially in collaborative project teams spread at remote locations.
i had used Microsoft Lync earlier. I did not see any difference between these two except couple of minor observations. I did not see "call the contact" option in Jabber. Also, Jabber will not show the number of days the contact is offline and till when the contact is busy.
It's has excellent intelligence of framing all things related to chat in a single window like:
1. Sometimes screenshots sent on jabber gets deleted.
This application has allowed our department to ditch conventional IP phones. It has saved us money on hardware, and has provided us the ability to communicate securely within our organization from basically anywhere we have a internet connection. We have this tied into our CISCO phone system so it works just like having a traditional phone. My team has the application on their computers and cell phones. They can answer their calls from both and chat with team members with ease.
The only minor con is that of ease of use. Like any application, it takes a bit of time to get used to and understand. It doesn't work exactly like a traditional phone would, so understanding the new conventions it requires can take some time.
Great range of features and can be quickly set up to replace a physical phone.
Frequent updates can be a pain and no automatic updates.
I like how the ease of communication is at your fingertips, by simply typing in a colleague's name and being able to instantly message them. Another feature I really enjoy with cisco jabber is that you are able to share your screen with colleagues and if you need help with something, you can authorize them to take remote control of your mouse. This comes especially handy if you work in IT support and there are issues with remote connectivity. I've had to resort to using cisco jabber to assist staff with issues before. See it as a two in one kind of deal.
The only thing I don't like is that when a colleague shares their screen with me and I take control of the mouse, when asked to enter in system admin credentials it kicks me off and we have to reconnect.
I love that it keeps track of what was said and also saves chat rooms. Additionally, you can also have messages go while offline. This is great for an environment where people check e-mails at any given time and you don't want to bog them down with a simple item that comes to mind that can be taken care of the next day. We use it for team chats, reminders, and keeping a log of what was communicated.
This software lacks the ability to insert screenshots easily (can be on in 1:1 chats, but not group chats) and also doesn't allow screenshare (that I have found yet). We have to use this in addition to other software for troubleshooting-- this is a great chat only piece of software.
Jabber is a fantastic way to contact someone unobtrusively. You can see their status if they are Away, in a meeting, or on the phone. If someone tries to call you while you are on the phone, you can drop them a message in Jabber to let them know, or they can send you a message without trying to call first. You can send image, attachments, and even emojii characters.
The initial cost and setup is a large drawback. Configuring the software to work with the phones requires specific settings on the phones through Cisco Call Manager to be set properly. Thankfully Cisco has a very talented support team that can help walk you through any of the initial set up pains.
I worked for Bershire Hathaway at National Indemnity Company for two and a half years and we used Jabber for interoffice communication. I found it extremely helpful and easy to use. I liked that it displayed our office status to other users/friends. It was also nice that it connected with our Cisco phones and we could take calls from the computer with a click of a button rather than reaching over for the phone itself.
The only thing I have to complain about with this software is that a while back they updated the emojis and got rid of several emojis that I was used to using. They have new emojis, but it would be nice if they still had the option to use the old emojis. More choices are better in my opinion.
1. Communication and calls with co-workers made easy.
1. Pop ups along with their message when a co-workers pings us, certain things needs to be confidential and we need to customize the settings to avoid it.
1. Made my regular meetings very easy with Screen sharing option 2.voice connectivity.
1.Well one can't guess that other person has seen your message or not. 2. If system is locked and there is some group chat comes then on unlocking the system, it gets hanged and one cannot even get to know what that group is about. 3. In group chat one cannot predict who has created untill creator sends messages. Or in name of group user has to mention his/her name.
Cisco Jabber is an all-in-one application, it gives you the possibility of having your extension on your computer, cell phone or tablet, being able to send messages to your colleagues, share documents, screens, access voicemail or even video conferencing rooms. What more could you want?
There is not much to mention here, with the change of look and feel that they are doing in the new version, the user experience will be similar to Webex Teams and this helps the adoption of the solution. Perhaps the only point to mention is that for some cell phones, the application makes them a little slower than normal.
It makes it easy to message, call, video, and share screens with every employee. The software is easy to use and understand. I could even send files and receive files from another employee through Jabber. It is a quick and easy way to communicate on all fronts. It really brings me back to the early 2000s when instant messaging was just beginning. This is so much faster and easier than sending an email and to call someone is just a click away instead of dialing numbers on a phone.
I don't have any complaints regarding the software. It could use more emoticons but its not really necessary for a work setting.
Ease of use is the biggest pros of Jabber. It's simple and useful. Some of the useful features that we generally like are group chats and screen capture. Connectivity is also great and there are a very few downtimes so its helpful for time-critical jobs.
One of the main Con of Jabber is its lack of feature. Nowadays everything is so fast paced that we need a lot of feature in there which can make it more useful and beneficial for the business. It's look and feel is still of the pre-millennium era and can be improved a lot laced with some very useful features like presentations, polling, emoticons etc.
Cisco jabber has many features which includes messaging, audio call, video call, group chats, screen sharing and etc etc. It allows me to create group and have conversation with them in various ways. It allows me to initiate group chat which is very helpful when we work with various teams/members on tasks/issues.
I dont find any cons of such but group video chating could be enabled for better communication
Very few cons i faced like:
Cisco jabber haves lots of great great features which really solved the daily communication between peer to peer or peer to group within our organisation. Sharing your screenshots, Voice over IP , Group Chatting, Personal chat, adding status , screen sharing makes this software best in market. You can track your colleague is available or away, also there is features to change according to your nickname.
I find that interface is very simple not so attractive and one thing i notice that the messages get deleted after few days and screenshots will not able view it's get automatically deleted.
The integration with the phone system and Active Directory. We changed our Dialing from 4 digits to E.164 (12 Digits). With Jabber, all you need to do is type the users name and hit dial. It will look up the number and dial your phone. Screen sharing is also good for remote workers. No need to have someone come to your cube to see what you are doing. Share your screen and everyone is informed.
Interfacing to other companies can be a problem. TAC will only look at your connections and if it appears correct sometimes will stop troubleshooting.
Cisco jabber is an instant messaging application that provide the professional environment for communication with in a network . Integrity of Cisco jabber with Outlook & IP is really amazing and provide the real time update with it that other person is busy or on call or in meeting. Group chat is possible where a host can join it with a simple approval or setting the auto-approval. Screen share & Desktop control is also possible with Cisco Jabber. Their is a limited and some professional emojis also which help in expressing the feeling for our words.
The least thing I like in it is that we can not share the images in group chat. Chat history is also very important in professional world can Cisco Jabber should work hard to fix the bug of deleting the history and images that share on the chat, I will loving if they come up with an option of archive chat so we don't delete or loss our important chat. Their are some annoying default setting that company should fix it by default.
I like the ability to easily message coworkers during the day, integrated into outlook so when they are not in scheduled meetings their ability shows up. It gives me notice that they are available for chat and saves tremendous amounts of time to get quick answers.
When conversations are done they essentially go away. With other collaborations I prefer the various threads of topics with multiple team members that always stay in the thread. Jabber in our org is like a sms chat tool but often times people use it to make deisions and therefore i wish there was a better way to saveconversations and messages.
Sometimes shows someone not logged in when they really are. But other than that... no complaints.
I like that Jabber allows me to communicate with colleagues who are both in my office and elsewhere. I think it's a very handy mechanism to communicate and that I can easily share screenshots and files in lieu of more formal mechanisms like e-mail. I also like that Jabber's search function shows recent contacts before showing all relevant contacts; this is helpful at my company which has thousands and thousands of employees, so 'Smith' has hundreds of results, but I see the recent individuals first.
I don't like that Jabber's emoticons are "dated"--essentially, iPhones and other cellular devices have significantly more, and better, emoticons. Jabber's emoticons are low resolution and relatively weak. Also, I wish there was more control over the green/yellow/red designations for myself. I recognize that those designations are tied to my calendar in Outlook, but I think there should be more control, or perhaps more automated reminders, such as "Do you want to appear as red right now?" for users to respond to.
Jabber is a very collaborative tool, we use it contact internal and external employees. Jabber is enriched with features, It saves the chat history of each contact separately, there are barely any downtimes and it supports Emojis and let the users set their own profile picture as well. The feature I like the most is that it keeps an enterprise's communication secure, all the discussions remain in the company. Also, i believe that Instant answers to the queries have improved the productivity of our department.
Jabber's interface is outdated and could really use an update. Also, group messaging is challenging, it does not save the groups we create and we have to start from scratch every time.
I used Cisco Jabber for over 3 years. I worked in a large call center and it was very essential for each agent as it helps us communicate even without going to someone's desk. Call centers are busy and customers could not afford to have unnecessary background noises. I like Jabber because the instant messages, calls and video conferencing are secured. I also love that we were able to create group chats and actually name them and we were allowed to share files, attachments or screenshots. Another plus point is it's MS Outlook Integration. The user interface is also friendly and simple.
I think Cisco Jabber can improve on its Mobile Application. There were times when it lagged that I had to re-install.
Simple design of architecture.
Its buffer for sharing the lines is very limited. So, you cannot share around more then 40 lines. We cannot share Doc file from this. Recently, it has stopped the feature of making a bot or group on Jabber.
I use Jabber everyday at my workplace and it is a great way to communicate. Here are a few of my favorite features...
It can be configured to integrate with Active directory which is a great feature but sometimes when its time to update a password it does not always sync up correctly.
I think not being able to send a screenshot within a group chat is a bit frustrating at times, but you can always send it directly to individual people. Also, if you have a group chat open anyone you have added has the capability to add whoever else they would like. There are no parameters you are able to set to avoid having people added who should not be there.
Jabber allows you to instant message, screen share, voice call, host voicemail and screen grab all through their application. For remote employees, long distance employees and global companies there is no better software. With a USB headset you have the ability to make calls, leave messages and can follow up with instant messages when the user is online. It is very similar to the AOL chat system in the 1990's, but has the technology of 2019 that makes communicating with a team easy.
No cons. Managing a group chat, connectivity and easy to understand online/offline appearances make Jabber an incredible program. Nothing better out there.
Cisco Jabber is simple and easy collaboration tool for audio/video calling, screen-share and file-sharing. Integration with outlook helps to know the active hours and availability of the user. The desktop share and control request feature helps controlling the system remotely. The emoji helps in to express the feeling while chatting.
The file share feature need to be improve and should be easy to search the media and document with a different tab under the same window. Media should be store under the configurable space where user can find it even he\she is offline. Block feature should be like muting the notification.
You can easily find your colleagues in Jabber via name
There are some certificate issues when you sign in Jabber from home. Apparently, you need to use some VPN to get to the company's server before log in Jabber.
Instant messaging applications have been around since the days of dial-up, but what sets them apart now is the integration and additional functionality. Jabber can tie into the phone system (in our case, a Cisco IP phone system) and show others when you're on calls, presenting, etc. Within an IT department, this has become an invaluable tool because users can chat with other support staff while on a call with an employee ("customer") without having to put the customer on hold.
We had some issues integrating with Active Directory and the Cisco IP phone system but were overcome by some reconfiguration or an update to Jabber. However, we have had some occasional issues with Jabber losing chat history. This caused some major issues up front (due to record-keeping compliance) but we haven't seen the problem resurface lately.
It is a very easy to use instant messaging tool to chat with employees. It allows you to save contact of. You can also customize your status (available, Do not disturb etc). It also has a feature to send files while chatting with your co-worker. You can also change the color of the text and add emoticons to express your message more vividly. You can also see what meetings are upcoming from the meeting tab.
I do not find any cons with the software so far. It is a very convenient way to personal message. It also allows you to add your picture as your icon. Using this feature you can also share your screen with your co-worker to discuss points and also perform a screen capture.
I love that when you sign in a small window opens instead of the software taking over your entire screen. In that small window is every thing you need to make phone calls, your contacts list, your most recent calls, voicemails and even a calendar to keep my meetings on. There is also a search bar that you can type a phone number into to find instead of searching your contacts or recent calls list. And I also love the fact of knowing that where my computer is so is my work phone and I dont have to worry about my cell phone being charged for important calls or not finding my cell phone.
This software does seem to take a little longer to open then I would like.
Jabber integrates telephone services and thus see who calls and can also dial using the computer, missed calls are seen and voice mails are heard through the computer's email. the user appears in outlook, so we can call or chat with people instead of having a conversation by voice mail, being much better that way. It is a good working tool for instant messaging, linked to our telephone service without opening Outlook, regardless of whether someone is meeting or not, since you can converse in real time, making the conversation easier and more efficient.
We have problems when adding and searching contacts in the chat; On the other hand, Jabber should be connected to my direct number to receive voice mails and respond faster.
This software has so many features. It has most of the features you'd expect from a chat client (see cons for a few that are missing), but where it really shines is the integration it allows for your Microsoft Outlook and Webex functionality. It also syncs with my phone extension so that you can not only see when I'm on a call, you can also dial someone from directly within the app. It also allows you to control your voicemail from within Jabber. You also have the ability to share your screen and even do screen snippits from within the app. It is very user-friendly.
Okay, this is kind of petty, but I wish there were more social features. All you get for emojis are just a few still images. I like having animated emojis, GIFs, and memes to communicate with like you do in other communication apps.
The system is secure, meaning files and information can be sent within the company easily and remain safe. I can contact a coworker via text chat, voice call, or video call---saving a great deal of time over true in-person visits, allowing me (and the other person) to stay on task while still staying connected. Works very well in dialing into webcasts and conference call events and is much easier to use than holding a handset for an entire meeting.
Voice quality on calls varies at times making it necessary to redial. Also, when the internet is down, my ability to use the phones is also out, severely affecting productivity in the office.
I liked that Jabber integrated with Outlook so it would automatically set my status to in a meeting when applicable - I don't really have the time or inclination to manually set it every time I have a meeting (or remember to change it afterwards!) I also really liked that I could forward calls to my own cell phone - I hate trying to take calls through the computer. Jabber just works. It's not fancy or super attractive, but it was pretty much never down and met all of my needs.
I guess it was a little old-school as far as the user interface. It felt like using AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) from way back when. But that doesn't affect the functionality.
Cisco Jabber is very light and fast instant messaging application. Desktop sharing is very effective for demonstrating concerns/queries, directly to remotely logged in peer members. Cisco jabbers integrates with outlook to provide availability status directly in outlook which is very effective. Jabbers also enables alert when peer members gets back to the system and become available on the system. Group chat feature is very convenient for communicating with multiple people at same time.
1. Jabber should have option to save screenshots directly.
Cisco Jabber is extremely helpful to be able to communicate instantly to someone else in your company, regardless of what location they sit in. It allows real-time communication, which is far more efficient than email, when you need answers quickly. Also, it is extremely helpful that it has the capability for you to be able to send screen captures to another user, as well as to use screen sharing, in order to determine what is happening on someone else's computer, when they are in a different location than you.
The only thing that could be considered at all negative about this software in my opinion, is that it can sometimes become a tool used by employees to gossip with one another or complain. This can sometimes be difficult, but the benefits of the instant communication far outweigh any issues that that would bring about.
I have been using cisco jabber from last 4 years and I can say this is one of the best tools for the IM communications within an organization.
Sometimes screen sharing via jabber is slow and the real time sharing of remote screens gets very difficult to deal with but this can be dealt with using network with better speeds.
We could create a chat room , the idea is to only configure persistent chat settings in these rooms vs. to temporary chat rooms. In this chat everything will stay even if all users will leave the chat vs ad-hoc chat. The chat remains available until removed. We can see all our communication. It allows all our team even in a different countries, zone to participate in this chat.
Video calling, needs to be improved. Access to old conversations when we are not using Rooms.
Jabber has many good features including keeping a chat history for each of the users you interact with. You can go back and review what you discusses later on. I also like the group chat allows which allows you to make a chat room with multiple users. It also makes screen share easy when needed during a conversation. It also keeps track of the users status to show presence according to availability. It works well with our current Cisco phone system.
It does not get all the meta data for users from Microsoft Outlook with it's connector for it. You can't see who reports to who for example like in Microsoft Outlook. It does not have a bot that can set reminders like Slack. It does not have an open API for sending messages from other systems.
Cisco Jabber allows me to call people on my cellphone as if I were in the office. I really like how I can stay connected to those I contact for work without giving out my personal number. I also receive emails whenever I get a voicemail and can listen to them from my email account without being at my phone or dialing in from another phone. It has made the times I need to work outside of office hours much more convenient. I'm not a tech person at all and have found Jabber easy to use.
I much prefer other messaging services like Slack over Jabber's instant messaging tool. That said, I have no complaints about the phone aspect of this software.
What I like most about "Jabber" is that it makes communicating with your teams (internal and external) easy. This software is especially good when you have a quick questions that can be answered quicker than an email
What I like least is that it has a lot of connectivity issues sometimes. If you close, you will have to restart Jabber until it is connected again instead of continuing to operate.
I love that when someone leaves a voicemail, it sends a transcript directly to my email. As someone who prefer to read over listen (I know this is an odd trait for a millennial), this greatly improves my work day and allows me to keep working without having to listen to voicemails.
I find the instant messenger clunky and old fashioned. Let's make the interface modern, Cisco!
As a user who has this set up for you, there aren't many issues with the software. It's a basic instant messaging app with presence information integrated. The app works well and sits in the background.
The setup and maintenance of the application is a royal pain. Between managing the security certificates for it and making sure that each endpoint is able to communicate to the expressway server securly, you can have a part-time position available for this software alone. Also, messages are not stored on the server at all. If Jabber is not open on an endpoint when a message is sent, that endpoint cannot retroactively get the old messages.
Cisco Jabber is a great tool that I like a lot when i am working in office or somewhere outside office, since it has made it so easy to connect to meetings instead of being in person for any discussion. The shared screen is the top feature which allows me to connect with coworkers and solve any issues in real time without any inconvenience.
Nothing much on dislikes as helps in my work a lot. Only observed that we can not send any screenshot or attachment in group chat.
Jabber is easily accessible, with relatively intuitive layouts and integrated additional features such as screen sharing and audio calls
Jabbers features are limited, most notably in its individual customization of settings. This would be an area where major improvements could be made to allow for better personalization of statuses and alerts
Jabber is a good looking, easy to use, and incredibly useful tool. It can share screen captures very easily, supports embedded images and emotes as well as "mentions" to bring in others to the conversation, and is updated and supported regularly by Cisco.
Setting it up to integrate into your Call Manager phone system can be a bit of a bear if you are new to setting up Cisco environments. Thankfully the Cisco support team is very responsive and helpful.
1. Fabulous product for instant messaging useful for professionals
1. Option of sharing files while chatting should be provided for the users
This product has excellent integration with other Cisco software, particularly WebEx
Has terrible emoji support; is not customizable in any meaningful way; often send messages to the wrong people due to a cluttered interface
It has most of the basic functions to allow easy communication and sharing of documents in an office environment. It also organizes any files making them easy to locate later when needed.
The history it stores for communications is a bit limited at times especially when you realize you need to go back to review a conversation only to find it was just outside the time limit it saves.
Easy to use Saves one-on-one conversations Easy to do group chats
It does not save group conversations after the conversation window has been closed.
It is very simple to use and accelerates calls. It features a simple button to send screenshots on the instant messaging screen. Screen sharing and video conferencing function are very successful.
The application can often break the connection with the self-phone. To connect again, you need to close the application and log in again.
1. Fácil de usar
I am using it from last three years. I did't find anything which i like the least. It is very useful for me.
I have used both Cisco IP Communicator and Cisco Jabber. I found Cisco Jabber to be much more user friendly and I encountered very few technical issues when using Cisco Jabber. I continued to use it until my company forced me to switch over to Cisco IP Communicator. I also really love the address book feature that Jabber has, as I would use the address book to quickly call the repair centers my company is partnered with.
Cisco IP Communicator frequently has issues where the phone will restart continuously to the point where you cannot log in. There will also be issues where it registers someone else as being logged into your extension even though they are not, which also makes it to where you cannot log in. I never encountered these issues with Cisco Jabber, so I do not have many qualms with Cisco Jabber. The only recommendation I can make is that it would be nice if Jabber had a more compact version, as this is one of the few pieces of functionality I like about IP Communicator.
Cisco Jabber is a great collaboration tool. User interface for instant messaging and desktop screen sharing enhance the user experience with its enrich features and functionality like popup notification for instant messages. Newly added emoji in Cisco Jabber 12.0 looks more interesting that add expression to your words. We can manage the group in our contact list. The group chat auto join is a great feature that helps to join the group in case you are not available to accept the group request. Jabber bots can launch the chats and calls.
We are using the Cisco Jabber from past four years. The search panel for chat is a missing feature and needs to be added. Cisco Jabber should also work on encrypted backup and archiving chat options. It also needs the features to hide the images under chat and should enable the image share on group chat. Groups should also come with history feature.
- Simple, reliable, and easy to use interface.
- Instant Messages and incoming calls do not get blocked and still received even when Jabber status is, "Do Not Disturb". This is the worst feature and one of the reasons why large amount of businesses have migrated to Skype.
For the following reason, I like the jabber most. The best part of jabber is screen sharing. I'm using screen sharing in my presentation in office so that everyone does understand visually through their screens while sitting at their seats. You can also track the availability of the person through this software. It is showing the status Available if you are working on the system. You can also update the status of the software to Do not disturb in case you don't want to disturb from anyone.
You need to update the password again, if you have updated the windows password. And sometimes, it slows down the system.
Best app for office use, makes communication between colleges so easy.
-Delivered and seen status cannot be distinguished which is I don’t like about this app.
Cisco jabber is a very good tool for communication, chatting and calls.
This tool has some problems as well that need to be improved. We cannot share screenshot in group chatting. Sometimes it do not popup messgages in case of system slowness.
This tool is gift for person which aren't willing to go to meeting room as they can attend meeting's while sitting on sest.
Coversation History or log limitation as sometime we missed some important conversation. Not able to share sceen shots in group conversation. Availability of the person is not as accurate as it should be.i.e. someting idle system show person is available.
- Allows collaborating anywhere through instant messaging, voice and video calls, voice messaging, desktop sharing, conferencing.
- Jabber doesn't have a queue for offline messages which can be a problem in locations with non stable network provider connection.
1. Small, simple and easy interface for instantly messaging in one in the work hour.
1. Older messages get automatically deleted I think at least till now I have not found a way to restore them back but yes I think there would be the solution.
Screen sharing is one of the best use i found in this tool, it really helps to present some important stuff to someone.
It doesnt support video calling.
Initially, I can't believe that the Jabber software we loved back in the University has been aquired by Cisco. It was pleasant news because it signals the more professional maintenance and dev for this much loved software.
Well... aesthetics matter a lot to me.. and Jabber, although has been refined a bit, still needs a more modern look and feel (especially now that there are tons of other messaging platforms available). Just a note though to keep backups of important conversations (e.g., in chat). I have had experience when my old messages got deleted when I leave a chat group.
when we create group ,we cannot share multimedia item in that group
Biggest drawback screenshot get deleted after we logout and login the jabber. Not able to saved any conversation so we can use it in future. If anyone create a group and invite me it always show me black screen popup, I always logout and login the jabber in my new upgrade version.
We can share screen with client and colleague's system with this and ping to anyone which under Cisco connection. We can create the common group , sharing screenshots , use different emoticons etc with this. It helps a lot to us in our daily work. This is simple tool, the laymen also use this with simple way.
The most least thing about this is which happed to me many times that while meeting with client it automatically disconnected. And also Cisco jabber delete the history messages which i think it worst thing. Sometimes we need to see old messages but for some time stamp it delete the messages. If it stores all the history then it would be lovable.
Inability to search my conversation history is a personal grudge I have got with Jabber . Am also wondering why anytime I leave a group ,all of my conversations on the group gets removed.
A quick and easy way to communicate with coworkers without missing a question in an email inbox, It is extremely useful for collaboration and I really like how I can send messages to someone who does not work in my office without having to call them. I like how it does not show if you read the message or not, but it shows up when you receive a response. I also like how easy it is to find people by phone number and see who is available online to chat. It is also easy to sort and see what calls I have received, lost and placed without having to look through my Cisco phone.
I don't like that once you close out of the jabber room the history of your conversation disappears forever. Sometimes, particularly when it is important and references a work related event, it would be helpful to be able to go back and reference the original source
Being able to communicate with employees around the world by phone, email, web, messaging, etc. The software is great depending on how it's being used. I've worked with Cisco products elsewhere and find that there was little to no system issues. It's amazing how you can conduct meetings face to face elsewhere by web and associate with everyone in the office.
The software will malfunction and completely stop performing its duties. Jabber will interfer with how avaya which is a phone system operates causing disconnection in calls and system freezing. I noticed after not using jabber the calls became normal and the system freezing discontinued. I find that a lot of call centers offering work from home positions requires the use of jabber and has implemented the use into company policies resulting in termination if the software is not used however on site employees are not required to use the software. The software can be used as spyware within a security team.
The tie ins with Outlook, WebEx, and Cisco phones work very well. Popup notifications for meetings and call notifications are clear.
Lets start with if you don't use Outlook, WebEx, and Cisco phones you will not be able to leverage many features. In this case, you may want to consider other options.
Jabber is a solid chat client for the corporate environment. The desktop app is very robust and integrates well with other Cisco products. We have it integrated with our Cisco video phones and WebEx. You can share your desktop, launch a WebEx meeting or take calls over VOIP. It is easy to search for coworker with the active directory integration and organize contacts in groups. It also allows you to view missed calls and listen to voicemail if you have it integrated with your phone system. It will also remind you of WebEx meetings and allow you to launch them from the pop-up reminder. Overall, with the integrations, I believe it is one of the more feature complete chat clients on the market.
The mobile app is the only real weak point for Jabber. They have improved it a little over time, but it still has issues. I have used it both on iOS and Android and it is a battery hog. Significantly more battery drain when it is running. Also, it does not save login information when using single sign-on. This means I have to re-authenticate every time I open it fresh. This makes me question whether or not to open it when on the go.
What I really like about Jabber is that it gives real-time information and instant messaging and reduce delays. I really like this part its like instant messaging made even easier, voice and video calls is seamless, voice messaging, desktop sharing I would recommend Jabber to any organization.
The thing with Jabber because its not a popular as the skype and those others we are only able to use it in house right now, hopefully more organization will begin to use this tool.
we can see the profile i.e online/offline status, phone number, mails id . Screen/desktop sharing feature is quite easy and consumes less bandwidth as compare to other software like slack. 'Send mail' option is really time saving . User can Customize status according to his need.scheduling meeting and easy integration with outlook are impressive feature, in one click we can see the meetings detail from jabber, can schedule a new meeting .
i don't see any option like slack where we can use any other app with in the jabber just like we do in slack.
