Companies using ProWritingAid produce higher quality content, comms, reports, bids and other documents with fewer mistakes, faster.
The articles and blogs are lovely and informative. I read them regularly and incorporate them while writing my docs. Great use and good work!
As of now, I haven't encountered anything on the negative side. So far, so good ;)
I have been a writer for almost 6years now, and this software has helped me improved so much when it comes to writing. ProWritingAid fixes tautological errors, flags wordiness, highlight tense errors, points at chronological errors, etc.
Data loss when program crashes sometimes.
Supper's easy-to-use and generally spot-on in terms of grammar and style.
The Gmail plugin for chrome browser plug-in can be a little bit of a resource hog. But once you know what's going on it's easy to enable and disable it as needed.
Fácil de usar
Nada vem à mente.
Really none at all. It's not expensive, it's easy to use and it helps me to be the best writer possible. What more can I ask?
The breadth of features gives an overall assurance that my writing is of a high standard. I cannot afford the high costs of professional editing, however, I have received many compliments about the quality of my work.
I have no serious complaints. The only problem has been getting to grips with the interface (but then I am 70 years old and new technology does not entrench itself into my grey matter easily).
I think that it should be offered free for students to help them along in their writing and educational ventures.
It provides insightful reports about your writeup after rigorous analysis. You can get as many as 20 different reports. It is one of the very few software that gives you that. It is an amazing proofreading and editing tool, in addition to that.
The Pro Version is a little bit expensive. It is still value for money at the end of the day, though
There are many reports to consider in getting from 1st to final drafts. It has helped me with my English and grammar.
I wished it helped in understanding how to use some of the reports to their fullest.
1. Fácil de usar
Suggestions always are in the direction of the simplest language for dummies. If you are trying to write at a higher level the suggestions are useless. The program doesn't help you enough with passive verbs and when it does it often gives you suggestions that don't fit the story.
I loved that this product was so easy to use! I am not a writer but have been told I should write about certain things and I thought I would try this product to help me do that! I loved all of the tools it provided, from spelling and grammar editing to helping fix sticky sentences! It also helps teach you what you are doing wrong and why. I plan to have my son use this for his high school writing as well!
I can't think of anything I didn't like!
I cannot sing this software's praises enough. It had integration with Google Documents, for one thing, which makes my life so much easier. It breaks down its editing by category, such as style, grammar, spelling, etc.
The only thing I don't like about the software is that when you want to remove the editing highlighting, the button to do that doesn't always work.
I love all the different ways to dissect a piece of writing. Not only will it look at grammar and punctuation but style, readability, and glue words.
Supposedly, it works with Scrivener but I have not figured out how that works.
I love how ProWritingAid plugs into MS Word and Scrivener, so both authors and other professionals can utilize the power of this service. The price is very affordable, and the features aren't matched by any competitors to my knowledge.
While ProWritingAid is great, for some platforms that requires short snippets of content like e-commerce product pages, you may be better off with Grammarly. This is because PWA has more of a 'style' focus rather than 'grammar' focus.
It is helpful, really make me know what I was doing wrong in my writing. I downloaded the ProWritingAid MS Word add-in and I could understand easily the report. It is full of useful aids
It is overwhelming, there is a lot of information, i would like something that helps me to know where to begin with
I love that this program offers a free option, and that the free option shows you how to fix to so many different things in your writing. It's so comprehensive and I can't wait until I can save up the money to buy the program. I recommended it to my girls to help them with school papers because I found it so helpful for my own writing. I write fantasy and being able to add strange new words to the dictionary has been a huge help in identifying whether my new words are spelled consistently throughout the document.
I write fantasy novels so my work is very long. My chapters are always longer than 500 words so it's a bit difficult to be certain my chapters are all making sense when using the free option. However, that works well for editing my blog posts. Other than that limit, I haven't come across anything I dislike about the program and since that's the benefit of buying the program...I can't really complain. :)
My favourite feature is the overused words check. It's really useful to have grammatical errors and typos flagged as well, but one of the hardest things for me to catch when self-editing is too many uses of the same words in proximity. The automatic check helps me clean up content and get it out the door quickly, whether it's my own projects or as an editor.
I have older MS Word software, so it's not compatible and copying to and from the web editor can be a little clunky.
ProWritingAid brings a lot of useful tools under one roof: grammar, style, readability, and other diagnostic tests to help make your writing as lean, focused, and active as possible. I love it.
ProWritingAid can be a bit buggy sometimes. When trying to use the comprehensive mode to run all the diagnostics at once, it can crash -- so make sure you check compatibility for your computer before making the jump. It also seems to "uncheck" items that you have deemed ok or have marked for skipping. Still, it's a great suite of writer tools for proofreading and editing content.
ProWritingAid is an incredibly comprehensive editing software. How many of its editing categories you look at and implement is up to you and how much time you have available, but they're always there. The software stands head and shoulders above competitors in this regard. It's also, for the budget-conscious, a lot more affordable. True value for money - the best investment anyone who works with words in any capacity can make!
Not sure if it's a glitch, but sometimes when I accept an edit, then undo, it's unable to. Also, it doesn't catch every single grammar mistake (9 times out of 10 it does, though), so I'd advise to have the free version of Grammarly installed as a backup.
I love how ubiquitous ProWritingAid is. With the Chrome, Microsoft Word and Google Docs extensions, I am protected nearly everywhere I write. It is so easy to set up and use. ProWritingAid catches all my grammar and punctuation mistakes. It is an integral part of my editing process.
The pricing is a bit steep, but it's still cheaper than most other grammar checking software on the market.
I haven't figured out how to make it automatically highlight the errors in Word as I'm typing.
Ease of use and amazing array of checking features
Plugs instead can be poor, but I believe they are working on these at the moment
Fácil de usar.
Absolutely nothing I dislike about using this software.
ProwritingAid is one of the best editing tools I've found to catch missed and incorrect punctuation. From the wrong spaces between ellipses to dropped quotations marks, this is where ProWritingAid excels and sets itself apart from other editing software.
ProwritingAid works quickly when editing a short document, but if you want to do a lengthy document (More than several pages) at once, there will be a lag while it works. It's only a minor inconvenience, but unlike some other editing software, you can't start making corrections until it's entirely done the checking.
I love the setup and functionality of the program and how easy it is to use. It's easy to load up a document and have it analyze several layers of content. I love that it can 1) Spit out a summary of your documents grade and show you why it received a certain grade for each layer of analysis
At times I have lost data when the program has crashed or my computer has shut down unexpectedly. It doesn't auto save as I am used to from using google docs, and you need to be careful not to close out of the document until you either save it or copy and paste the content into its final destination. This is only a minor issue that boils down to user error mostly, but I would love an auto save feature to be added in.
ProWriting Aid has many great features, and it’s constantly improving. I love its readability analysis, spelling, and grammar checker. In fact, I like ProWriting Aid analysis more than I liked Grammarly’s.
I wish ProWriting Aid would provide a Microsoft Office add-on for Mac users (I use a Mac). They have an add-on for Windows users.
So comprehensive in its suggestions, thesaurus, and things you would never consider as you're writing your novel.
Sometimes it gets a suggestion incorrectly or it has a minor bug in identifying sentences, or it doesn't forget a rule I've told it to forget.
It's easy to use, helpful in finding missing commas and words and helps to improve my writing.
It doesn't like assessing large amounts of texts, which can slow down the editing process.
When I first tried this software I was so shocked. I needed a software that would help me with my projects and help me with my editing. I needed something simple and this did the job. I was so excited to use it and it's still so helpful. When I am editing my writing assignments I am able to go quickly through and this software catches every grammar mistake. I also love how I am able to use some of the helpful words on this software site. I also love how I am able to download this software with no problem.
I didn't like how when I first downloaded it I didn't understand some of the information on the screen, but as I slowed down I was able to figure it out. This software was easier than I thought.
As a writer and editor, I use ProWritingAid as that "extra set of eyes" every writer needs. I've found it to be easy to use, and appreciate the grammar, style, and readability suggestions.
The browser extension constantly gets in the way and once added a bunch of extra copy to a blog post I was editing (I've since disabled it). I also really wish it integrated with Google Docs. by Orpheus Technology on 18/12/2018 Thanks for your review. You can install our Google Docs add-on here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/prowritingaid/omfmnnbhjbfjgjlfaibngilhpbnfkehe
I like the fact that I can use it everywhere. It's available in Word, Chrome, and Google Docs. There's even a desktop application.
All software has pros and cons. While ProWritignAid is no different, it is worth saying that they do seem focused on continual improvement.
I had a little bit of a problem turning the highlight colours off for printing, but got there in the end.
It's hard to think of any cons, I am sure for the precise articulate person there may be some things unattractive about the program. However, I have used it for over 3 years and it serves all of my necessities.
I love that this software alleviates so much of the tedious editing work. I especially appreciate how the summary report provides such a comprehensive, helpful overview of all of the editing issues that need to be addressed.
The software was user-friendly. I have not encountered any complaints or issues.
I love that it does such a thorough check for grammatical errors.
I love it, but I would love if they added a thesaurus for the overused words.
It has so many features it can be a little overwhelming for first time users
I am loving this software. Especially with the google docs add on. It allows me to pre-edit before I send it to beta readers. I had most of the first draft completed before a friend turned me onto the software. I decided what the heck try the free trial. I can say with certainty I will be purchasing the subscription. Not only does it help with spelling and grammar. it allows me to run reports to see if i have used the same words repeatedly it also has an amazing thesaurus these are just a few of the features i have used so far
Im only using the free software right now until I get paid so I am missing alot of the functions on the software. that is the only con i can think of at this point. I mean to me it is expensive but it is worth the money.
ProWritingAid is a very nice tool to make sure all your content is written properly. It is extremely easy to use and you can set it up in just a few minutes. To start checking a document, you can upload an existing one or create a new one from scratchIt corrects your mistakes and classifies them in grammar, style, and spelling. This allows you to understand where you should improve. I found it very useful in the cases we have to write long manuals. It gives you endless possibilities to get further information about words (dictionary definitions, quotes, etc), same with extensive explanations of why your sentence needs corrections. The dashboard is very complete, and you find all the information on stats about your most common mistakes, key suggestions for improvements, vocabulary, etc.
As in my team, we usually do not write long documents and we use it mostly for emails and presentations, we have decided to use another alternative tool as we found it more suitable for our purpose. Something that offered a 'check on the go'
ProWritingAid contains a number of features that will not only instantly correct and suggest alternative wording but that will gradually improve your overall writing skills. Unlike the popular competition, ProwritingAid has a more comprehensively take on writing, it goes beyond just correcting grammar and spelling but help you enhance your style as well. It provides a number of reports that can help you track the improvement of your writing skills. And of top of that, it works in Google Docs -- where all of my writing takes place. :)
It would be nice to have extensions for a variety of browsers, including Safari. But honestly, what I like the least about it is a price!
I like the ability to purchase a lifetime subscription to the software. It allows me to edit my writing on various websites and in every writing app I use. It's convenient to use.
Purchasing the lifetime subscription does not include every feature offered by the software. For instance, plagiarism checks have to be purchased in addition to the editing and grammar check software. It's a hassle at best.
They don’t have iPhone/IPad app for their software but it works perfectly with my iPad browser
Pro Writing Aid puts a suite of powerful editing suggestions at your fingertips. The depth and range of suggestions it offers on a piece of writing make it essential for my writing tasks. It's incredibly powerful, taking many different angles of looking at your writing and how to improve it.
It is complicated to use, which is necessary given what it's doing. If it functioned a little better in Word especially it would make using it a little more enjoyable. Additionally, I ran into a major issue where I had to disable the Chrome extension because it was actually injecting css code into code I was writing. Once it was in I needed to manually clean up the CSS to get it working again.
I love that the program goes into such detail. It picks apart every single word and I can edit as much or as little as I want. The options are extensive and it is so helpful, as I can’t afford an editor right now.
I don’t like that I still have to do editing and PWA can’t read my mind and do it for me! Just kidding, writing is just a lot of mental work but PWA helps lessen the load.
I don't like that when I'm typing an email, if I hover over a word that has been underlined, the box that comes up doesn't go away when I move my mouse, covering most of the rest of my email.
1. There were options for most types of speech- more than any other option that I've seen.
1. Because of the number of options, it can, at times, be difficult to navigate the errors and features.
I love the built-in spelling and grammar checking for online writing. This program helps to proof my emails and web content as I enter it on a new site. It catches more grammatical and word usage issues than Word's spell check.
Sometimes the program recommends using more active/first person writing but for many of my projects the content is written passively.
It's a Microsoft Word plug-in, making it readily available whenever I'm working. The report descriptions are clear and concise, and the results are often helpful. The most useful reports are the Sticky Sentence Check (which helps me minimise fluffy writing), the Overused Words Check (which picks up the most common instances), and the Pronoun check (which helps me avoid excessive pronoun usage). Other reports (the Sentence Length and Dialogue Tags checks) offer useful information too, but they satisfy my interest in document statistics.
Three things stand out.
It identifies overused and redundant words so you do not repeat yourself. Sticky sentences, I didn't know they existed before I got Prowritingaid. They clog your sentences with to, the, at, if, and etc. and make your writing look unprofessional. The menu at the top is easy to use and any errors are highlighted with suggestions for improvement in the margins.
The updated software gives you a menu at the top, rather than at the side and you have to look at each problem individually rather than as a whole. This is not bad, but different and takes an adjustment. It does not pick up every grammatical error, but no software is perfect.
Pop up boxes where sometimes not needed.
I love that I can use the program for all emails especially important academic emails. I also appreciate that I can easily turn off the program temporarily.
I cannot think of anything I dislike about the ProWriting Aid software.
Can't say anything, it's simple to use and work perfectly with our workflow
I love this product for always checking my mistakes, grammar, and typos. Prowritingaid is my world. The most incredible software ever.
honesty, nothing. This software does everything you need it to
The merits of this software are seamless integration into Word, google docs, and online whenever I need to edit no matter the place. The highlighted functions for grammar and style are easy to implement and do not impede my writing.
The only aspect I like least about the software is sometimes lengthy times to run different functions in long documents. This is easily remedied by selecting smaller portions of text. I just get impatient.
It’s easy to use. It gives me clear directions as to what is wrong and how to fix it. Plus it gives the option to NOT fix it, if you intended something to be a certain way for effect.
The only con I have found is I don’t like to use the plug ins on Office, but that is a conflict with MS Office.
The price is perfect and the number of functions/options is satisfactory
The plagiarism checker needs to be improved more
The way it integrates into Google Docs, and the different elements of a document that you can check.
I'm hard-pressed to think of anything that I don't like about this software. I haven't used other similar products, so I don't have a reference point.
I like the overused word and cliche reports. I tend to overuse the same words (like "that" or "very") and/or cliches that weaken my writing. Pro Writing Aid catches all of them for me.
I had a hard time integrating the software with Google Docs. I'm sure it's a user error, but I just copy/paste into Word to read the reports.
It improves my writing and gives me a feeling of being more credible with my blog posts and emails.
It sometimes conflicts with my page builder for WordPress.
ProWriting Aid is very feature rich, which is not a bad thing, but the issue is I am not always clear on how to get the best use out of all the features and reports.
I absolutely love the flexibility and platform support that ProWritingAid offers. No matter which platform or software you use to get your writing done, ProWritingAid supports it — and does it well! When taken feature for feature, comparatively Grammarly and other similar writing software can't compete. And did I mention the price? A lifetime subscription is worth its weight in gold for anyone who considers themselves a professional writer, no matter the medium.
There are some bugs in the software, and they vary depending on which platform you're using, but they're easy to overlook given the overall value proposition that ProWritingAid offers. I wouldn't use anything else.
I like the diversity of reports. Its not always obvious why they are necessary, but take your time, use the help screens and you will soon see their relevance. The reports are not fillers but will measurably improve your writing.
It can feel frustrating when the reports fetch back the results and you don't want to accept the recommendation because you feel it will compromise what you want to convey. Remember you don't have to accept any changes. Pay attention to the main reports, like sentence structure and how easy to ready your writing is.
When I am working on a pressing deadline, I don’t have time to look through the blogs for assistance. Also, the program freezes when I’m writing online.
I like that it can be as comprehensive or as specific in its feedback as I want it to be. It is flexible, efficient, and it catches things that I cannot. I have used other editing apps, but ProWritingAid is by far the best.
Sometimes I feel that the system wants me to review edits in certain order, but I want to review them in a different order. This is easy to navigate around, so it is a minor inconvenience.
I love ProWritingAid because there are so many helpful reports that allow you to get as detailed as you want when editing. I use the summary, style and grammar reports all the time. When I'm working on a larger marketing piece, I use the readability, pacing and other reports to help tighten my writing up. I also love how well the software integrates with Microsoft Word and Google Chrome. And one of my all-time favorite features is the word explorer. It's helped me pick the perfect word or phrase on numerous occasions. It's also nice that it's regularly updated with new and improved features.
I wish there was a way to use this on a mobile device. I'm writing this review on my phone, and I feel like I'm flying blind with ProWritingAid there to let me know about spelling, grammar and readability mistakes. I'd never produce marketing material on my phone, but I certainly write enough emails that I want to look and read professional.
I love this program! I use it every single day. The Echoes feature is amazing. I'm always shocked at how many duplicates I have in my books and resumes. I don't give a client a product or release a book without using this program!
Although I love ProWritingAid I also have to have Grammarly because each program catches different errors. It would be nice to have one program the did the work of both.
ProWritingAid simply drops in my browser. That's a plus.
Like many electronic editing tools, ProWritingAid isn't perfect. It can get confused.
ProWriting Aid is one my favorite software when it comes to writing. Its versatility and compatibility with the commonly used platforms makes it my personal favorite. It is very convenient to use and allows me to find the synonyms for the words used in the text without any extra efforts. Moreover, one can also filter various types of errors, which is like so amazing. It has helped me enhance my writing ability and most of all my vocabulary.
The software is a bit high-priced. And at times it suggests for the changes which deem to be incorrect. Although that does not account for that big a concern, but it would be really great if we could sort for the specific types of suggestions and not ponder over the ones that are unnecessary.
1) They offer a lifetime pricing option which I prefer over a monthly recurring bill.
1) I feel they should offer a monthly plan, their smallest package is an annual plan.
This site is one of my favorite sites and software programs. It is advanced just how I like it. There is also an option to upgrade to premium if needed. I love how I can work on so many elements of my writing with this site/software. I like to analyze, so this site helps me think about every part of my writing. I also like the grammar edit area and how ProWritingAid helps with issues with my sentences. I will write out loads of sentences I need help with and it picks out the sentences with no problem. I love how if I want to look at the overall progress of my work there is an option for it. It breaks it down in the toolbar area and explains what is going on with my work. I need this, so I can learn and work on becoming better.
Honestly, I dislike only one thing. I wish the price for the premium was lower. It isn't overly expensive, but the price could have a monthly price option. This would help so many people. The price could be like 10.99 a month for the premium option or something close to this price.
It is a friendly editing, style, and grammar checker software that contains most of the useful features you could want as a professional, newbie writer, or editor. Once you have begun to use it, it takes less than ten minutes to figure it out. The software is intuitive and the toolbar is quick to understand and informative about your errors. It can easily locate repetitiveness in sentences, which I really like. Additionally, writers will be happy to know that Google Docs and Scrivener can be combined with ProWritingAid, which makes it a very convenient-to-use checker. I love that it is inexpensive and costs less than a hundred dollars for an annual subscription compared to other types of grammar software.
There are a couple of minor downsides like being unable to make corrections when it comes to writing with textboxes online; this feature would have been handy. Second, the software has no extensions available for iOS, Firefox, or Safari integration. LaTex, a popular document preparation system, is also unfriendly with the software. Lastly, Mac users cannot use the software because there is currently no available plugin for Microsoft Word. The advantages weigh out the inconveniences overall and it will only affect you if you are particular about integrating it with other tools.
I didn't like needing to either upgrade my account or pay for plagiarism checking separately.
- The 'Style', 'Overused', 'Sticky' and 'Cliche' checkers are highly helpful
- No dark mode offered on Mac (as of 12/2018)
I'm super satisfied with this Hyper-detailed Grammar Checker. Not only it gives you great report on your Writing but also it analyzes your voice and it will give you honest feedback (Which you need and you must Accept no matter how hard it is :) ) ProwritingAid is my tool of choice when it comes to analyzing your Social Media posts, Blog posts, Reports, Whitepapers and many more B2B Information.
The only drawback for their Free Version is you can only check 500 words but does this Cons stop you to upgrade your Plan? No! If you really need to analyze your whole 2k+ to 5k+ Posts or Report, it's a no-brainer to Upgrade your Plan. This tool will make your writing life better.
This tool helps with better writing and runs a plethora of reports. This tool can replace some other tools, e.g. Hemingway app is just one out of 20+ reports in Prowritingaid. Feedback is excellent.
This software will not do the magic. If you don’t understand the rule according to which the software offers to correct mistake, you might still have an error after the correction.
I've tested a lot of writing and grammar assistants but this one is likely the best one which resulted in me taking their lifetime deal. It's so easy to use and you can use as many or as few of the guides as you like and, while it has the expected mistakes that any automated, non-human system would, it can be scarily accurate in terms of the tone and adjustments.
Very few. It can be a touch slow at times but not detrimentally so. This may be to do with server load as it's often absolutely fine.
