Streamline your operations and reduce costs with Samsaras all-in-one platform for fleet management. Live-to-the-second GPS tracking shows your vehicles in real time and pairs with rich reports so you can plan better routes, dispatch drivers at the last minute, and share accurate ETAs with customers. With integrated dash cams, driver safety scores, and automatic alerts for speeding, idling, and geofences, Samsara helps you protect your business and assets. Samsara is an FMCSA-approved ELD.
Easy to use and live reporting is really good
That it does not show zip code and full address
The platform's intuitive design makes it easy to get up an running quickly, and training new users is a breeze. Realtime GPS tracking, event-based alerts, and the ability to remotely view engine fault codes are super helpful for managing our fleet.
The routing feature could be improved by adding priority-based stops instead of time-based stops. This use case would work well for our on-site service team that can spend anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours at the customer's location.
Ease of use, very intuitive. Working your way around the portal is very easy and setting up alerts and adding users. The maintenance alerts are very useful for keeping track of repairs and upcoming maintenance. The GEO fence setup is awesome and you can utilize actual areas rather than say a 100 mile radius which really does not work in the real world. I love the idle time reports and incident alerts for tracking speeding, idling and MPG. When configuring alerts I like the fact that there are many variables you can apply, it's not a canned response.
Some of the reports are still a work a progress, however the did give me access to the API to pull the data
-This is a powerful system that lets you very easily pull reports, manage logs, Track driver location and so much more.
Feb-Apr 2018 had a ELD app error that occurred in very particular situations. However it was solved in May.
Throughout the evolution of the product in our 18 months of use, the additional features have made navigation and reporting more simple for the user and administrator. Tracking hours of service and keeping 135 drivers compliant has changed from reviewing individual logs for accuracy to scanning for violations. Knowing how many hours a driver has available tomorrow at a glance makes an immediate impact on our logistics experts ability to assign work. It's not just drivers and compliance that benefit, our logistics team, dispatchers, compliance team and the clients in the vehicles all WIN.
Inability to prevent a driver that has logged out from being put back on duty. If a member of the fleet team moves a vehicle without logging in to that vehicle, the software places the unassigned movement on the log of the last person that was signed in.
The ability to track temp
Sometimes we've had some disconnection from the system
Uses google maps, so little to no learning curve on how to operate the GPS software. Quick refresh time, about 15-20 second delay from actual location when driving, very good compared to 1 minute delays from other companies. Easy to add locations in bulk through csv list importing, easy to see where vehicles are on the map and where they have been.
Route optimization would be nice, to be able to put in a list of addresses and click optimize. Currently you can only do this with delivery times, but if you are a service industry like mowing, it does not make sense to put in delivery time windows. CSV bulk address importing will duplicate entries if you upload a list with a few updates, so keep that in mind. Would be nice if it would recognize duplicates and ask if you want to update or skip them.
we like the accuracy and ease of use. We also like a lot of the features that Samsara has to make information sharing with external customers to cut down on man hours lost to tracking freight. We also like how easy it is for our us to implement.
At&t as Samsara's main cell and internet connection. At&t is somewhat unreliable on some of the routes we run.
A web-based vision system administration platform means being able to check on the camera feed and make adjustments in real time on my work laptop, home computer, cellphone, or tablet. The software is easy to set up and the implementation assistance Samsara provided made commissioning a simple task when compared to other industrial vision systems. The quality of the camera is apparent from the moment you take it out of the box, and the software is made with the modern user in mind. The other thing that really impressed me was that for what you pay, you receive free feature-rich firmware and software updates to your equipment during the life of your contract. This has already improved the effectiveness of our system quite a bit.
On the hardware side, connecting the camera system to our existing line equipment was a bit difficult since the unit is designed to work on 12VDC instead of 24VDC or 120VAC which are far more common in industrial control systems. On the software side, there is a noticeable amount of lag at times when making adjustments. I'm not sure if that's connectivity or optimization issues, but it can make fine-tuning a bit difficult.
I think the ease of use is the best part of it all and then the real time access to all of our vehicles is fantastic. No more, "Our bus never came." I can easily look and see - yes it was a this time, the same as every other day. It also helps work with drivers who may be struggling that we did not realize were struggling.
I can honestly say nothing at this point. We under utilize the system now, but after an in person training, we are ready to get going (for real) - maybe I'll have a "least favorite", but not at this point in time.
Ease of use and the ability to give input on improvements or changes that make the software work better for us.
has nothing to do with the software really but the tablets we chose to run it on in our fleet are slow and the AT&T network doesn't work as well as another provider in our area.
Intuitive navigation for the dashboard user as well as for the driver.
The dashboard is just a little boring with the lack of color. Maybe needs just a little splash of color for visible interest.
No cons. This has been the best product to manage our fleet.
User friendly, very easy to show others how to use it. Also was very easy to install into our buses.
The play back video doesn't last long. We are hoping their will be able to get play back video at least a month out.
Samsara is very easy to implement and very easy to use.
There really aren't any drawbacks using Samsara.
The system is very easy to set up and use. The dashboard is very intuitive and and navigation is simple. The accuracy in which the system tracks the trucks is outstanding.
The durability in the hardware could use a little upgrade. They are great at swapping out defective units (or ones that go bad after a time) but it feels like we are doing this far too often in some of our trucks. Now we run a LOT of units and have over 60 units in various construction grade environments, but it still feel like we are replacing units too often.
We use the SAMSARA AG45 non-powered GPS trackers for our shipping containers. This software portal is easy to use, easy to teach to our customers and solves the problem we set out to solve at a price point we can afford.
I would like to be able to search the NOTES field from the SAMSARA portal as that is where we list the contents of our container and would help our customers get to the right container to locate the contents they're searching for. This feature is not available yet. I would also like to be able to get the current GPS coordinates without going to street view and copying it from the browser bar.
*Fácil de usar
On the maintenance section-When you create a schedule for any particular unit you have to create multiple for each unit. On an our previous software we used to use before you only have to select a unit and then select what you needed to track ea. PM, DOT inspections etc.
The ease of use of your product, such as the map and alerts
That you still cannot figure out how to get your software to read my two newest trucks odometers - this has been a real problem. I've also had performance issues as a result of them using AT&T as their coverage is not as good as Verizon in the areas my trucks travel.
the software was great just a little complicating to use
to be more user friendly on the website and app
Hookup and setup was very easy. Website is clear and not cluttered and easy to navigate.
It took me a little bit to figure out how to get in and see the cameras when videos were available.
I love that I can access this software anywhere and it is very user friendly. It allows me to share the dashboard with others in the office to keep up with our fleet. Our drivers also love the mobile app. It has a hotspot and so it is easy for them to be connected which allows the data to be sent to the office.
There have been a few times that when they push through updates, it slows everything down and some of the drivers have had problems with the mobile app but that is easily taken care of.
The accuracy and functionality. The software I had previously would be at least 10 - 15 minutes behind what was actually happening. With Samsara, I can watch my trucks moving down the road and the accuracy is within a couple of minutes.
That I didn't get it sooner. The accuracy of this software allows me to know exactly where my drivers are at all times and also where they have been. With my previous software, I had no confidence in what I was seeing so I was unable to make good decisions regarding my fleet.
I can track where our machines are on a daily basis. Being able to change the parameters on the dashboard and have more control over our fleet of equipment is very beneficial. I do not have to call around to see where a certain machine is.
I wish that the AG45 units were smaller in size. It would be great if your team could work on a smaller unit to have available for applications that require tracking such as equipment remote controls. we have 10 + crews that carry around remote controls for our walk behind compactors. These remotes are very expensive and can be lost or misplaced easily.
Company is just growing TOO FAST that is not CARING about it's customers!
Everything. Easy to use from an Admin and Driver standpoint. Hardly ever have a connection issue like you see with others on the market. If you're looking for an ELD for your fleet this is the one you want!
Nothing. Great software. You do not have the usual issues with Samsara like you do with other products on the market.
The software is all on the internet. I can use the fleet management portion on my tablet, my phone, or any computer as long as I have my login information. So far any tablet or phone I have tried the driver app on has worked.
Only the most minor of issues and even then it is almost not worth mentioning however to be an honest review I do need to mention it. The driver app has locked up while being used on the tablet. No reason has been found as to why as of yet. The app also does not keep the tablet screen on when the app is running which some people don't see as an issue.
EVERYTHING WORKS THE WAY IT SAYS IT WILL WORK.
SO FAR WITH ALL THE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PRODUCT THERE IS NO ISSUES
This program offers a lot of features and has allowed us to extract data that our small company did not previously have easy access to. Managing HOS, fuel usage, IFTA and more are easier now that we use Samsara. In addition, it is easy to use and even our least tech-savvy drivers have been able to use it without issue.
There are a lot of tweaks to the system on a regular basis, which sometimes affects the interface of the product. This confuses some of our drivers and is difficult to keep up with for those without much technical/computer knowledge.
We (Vmax) tested a lot of ELD systems prior to the mandate, and Samsara was the best one we tested. the accuracy, ease of use and display were all good.
Having to use the software to do our business and the cost associated with it.
Ease of usage; even non-computer savvy drivers were able to learn and use it within a few days. Customer service and IT tech team willing and ready to help either the driver themselves or the office staff in fixing, investigating and/or overcoming any issue or problem that was presented to them. Fantastic bunch of folks to work with and communicate with.
Some "wish ticket" issues that have been submitted to the development team not incorporated into the software yet; told it's in progress although so is it really a con when they are willing to see an issue and work toward a solution?
I love how much this program offers; it has helped us majorly weed out the not so loyal employees. The ELD portion is simple and easy to use and I don't have to fight the guys to use it for their logs. They just want to use it. I love the camera system as it has helped us out with false reports on reckless driving and gives us a little sense of comfort knowing that we have those backing us up 100%.
The only issue I have seemed to notice is where we live in Nebraska sometimes when the trucks are going out in the sandhills; sometimes the trucks don't quite connect all the way. So the live feed gets a little jumpy, but it still keeps it up to date as best as possible.
Both Samsara's hardware and software are cutting edge, sleek, and easy to use. Aside from easy installation, and user friendly portal. Their customer service has been close to none other that i have encountered.
The only thing negative i have to say about Samsara is when referring another company. It is all hearsay, but the impression i got is Fleet Size has sway on the amount of support you get.
Everything you need is included, and in one place. Fleet tracking, cameras, HOS, safety, performance, and dispatch tools all live in one place. Additionally, the team is very responsive in creating one-off or custom integrations should you need them.
The cameras, the logic by which they record, and the dashboard for viewing them could use some work. You're unable to retrieve segments more than 60 seconds in length at any one period of time. They offer a "hyperlapse" mode, but I find this to be a useless gimmick as the compression effectively omits frames making it difficult to identify incident times.
My favorite aspect of Samsara is the intuitive feel of the interface. When we were discerning on which ELD and telematics provider to choose, Samsara's program felt as if i had been operating it for years. the menus are very easy to navigate.
I wish that there was a mobile app for administrators, rather than the web browser, as sometimes im not by my desktop or laptop.
1000% decrease in harsh driver events due to cabin camera
Nothing, a perfect application for driving in city traffic.
The dual camera and also the video camera is also great. Panel with all the information showing for your vehicle.
Nothing, It has been a great camera and GPS tracking.
It’s user friendly, you can retrieve video footage of each trip, dash cam takes a picture every 2 minutes while engine is running and also videos every trip during traveling. Easy to do pre-trip inspection . Can use yard move while waiting to load and save on your actual drive time.
Doesn’t change from yard move to driving automatically
Very comprehensive. There are probably more thing built into the software than we actually loose.
would like to see mile markers easier on the map search when looking at trucks.
Quick response to questions and recommendations. Constant updates. Great follow through. Incredibly accurate location and telematics.
A bit pricey compared to others I tried, but I feel it is worth it for the quality of service and accuracy.
I found the road speed limit is not always accurate and I received a lot of false alerts, so I turned those alerts off. I have enabled alerts that ensure a certain top speed is not exceeded instead. Samsara does seem to work diligently to continuously improve their product, so I will try this feature again down the line and hope that they have fixed the issue.
being able to track my fleet.
at&t spotty service.
I love that it has two cameras, front and interior facing, that it connects to the control module of the car, that it alerts us when the driver is distracted or unsafe and that it records audio.
I think the sound quality is uneven and can be improved. The video retrieval process is very helpful but clumsy and needs to be improved.
I haven't have any problems using the Samsara dashboard software.
Ability to track equipment, the quality of the video and the built in ELD
Camera sometimes lose picture., and we have to physically unplug the gateway to make it work. I wish there was a way I could do a remote reboot of unit.
FÁCIL DE USAR
I can't think of anything at this point.
Easy to use. Helped us make our route drop offs more efficient. Helped with routes and driver locations.
not enough record time for video retrieval.
I enjoy having the insight that it provides us. Literally, with what I can see on the road, and all of the back-end data it can provide us. Samsara helps us remain compliant in our industry. So its routing functions are a leading example of what vehicle tracking should look like. Lastly, the driver app is what comes in the clutch to wrap it all up. Our staff finds the app very intuitive, simple, and it rarely faults. It is official and its documents function help us log valuable information that we turn into presentable data!
The system is buggy, and I find myself having to call in every so often to inquire about why I'm not seeing certain stats or images on my vehicles from their dashcams. The Driver app sometimes force quits and will sometimes refuse my drivers to log information.
The equipment was extremely easy to install, and functioned well from the start. Video image quality is outstanding (and can be used to identify license plate information of adverse vehicles in a wide range of light conditions. Software uses artificial intelligence to identify risky driving behaviors (including rolling stops, cell phone use, distracted driving or drowsiness). The most useful feature is instant notifications by email or text when an alarm is triggered. GPS location displays are great, and access to video clips is outstanding.
We have had very few issues with the software, and are very happy overall. We had some minor issues on some older vehicles connecting to internal multiplex data, but these were quickly resolved.
Ease of use online and on the vehicle app.
Nothing comes to mind...................
With 4-6 trucks on the road daily, I like to see where they are because it allows us to add on deliveries while in the area. Fuel costs are minimized. I can look at historical routes that a specific truck / driver made to confirm his overtime. I especially like the route optimization feature. We use this daily and it has saved us in payroll cost as well as downtime with my drivers. The clarity of photos is crystal.
I haven't been able to figure out how to be notified immediately when a driver is off route or has a moving violation.
I like the harsh event and engine fault notifications
The cost. Its 3 times what I was paying before but I am happy with the service. I hope to save on insurance and maintenance next year to offset the cost
The customer service is top notch along with the different features. It gives all the information we need on our drivers and vehicles at the touch of our finger tips.
Would like for a customer representative to contact us after a year to review how we are using it and to see if we could use to system more to our advantage.
The setup and configuration options are very user friendly. The ability to share live links is very helpful. The Time on Site report is a great tool to share with shippers and consignees.
There were a few features that were missing in the beginning but have since been added so nothing comes to mind.
Easy to use. Easy for drivers to also use
takes too much to get equipment replaced
Ease of use and customer service along the way. The demo's helped me validate internally, and we have used other providers, but as long as Samsara has the customer support after the sale, they will wipe away any competition.
There really isn't anything about the Samsara product that we don't like.
- Artificial Intelligence is great
-Waiting to see how the backup feature for the trucks work
*In no particular order*
*in not particular order*
The software and platform are both simple yet in depth. I can do as much or little as I want.
I have no cons to report at this time. We received the newest version of their two way cams.
The user interface and the fact I can provide real time coaching, routing, and also review alerts that are sent in real time.
Some harsh events are not really harsh, it does take the ai some time to learn.
I have no Pros after there was continuous issues throughout the time I was locked into my contract.
Read my overall experience worst experience ever!!! by Samsara on 13/08/2019 We appreciate your feedback and we're so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. We've informed our Finance team about your situation as we always want to give our customers the best experience possible.
Seemed easy to use and during the trial period the sales support was very active and helpful. once we were past the trial period, support disappeared and functionality starting failing. Many bugs that cause inaccurate locations and routing. Dispatch functionality does not work or improve over time as promised. The hardware in the cab has already started to fail in less than 12 months. Document capture frequently fails without notice to the user.
Lack of user roles for dispatch. No ticketing module. Uses inferior wireless network so conectivity is spotty.
Samsara offers a simple yet stunning UX. The dashboard is subtle yet robust. What I love is that nothing annoys me about the interface. Things are where I would assume I should find them. There is just enough functionality without introducing options I'll never use. So far Samsara is super durable and stable. Reporting is quick and accurate. The hardware options surpass the competitors. So far we are very happy with our choice.
The maintenance feature doesn't allow uploading files such as receipts.
Easy to use, all online, and very effective. Makes tracking vehicles and monitoring speeds/vehicle condition great. Can see entire fleet or single vehicle with click of a button. Can make the vehicle public so customers can track the vehicles with a link.
Not much, the limited wifi can be annoying and the driver app is confusing to some of our less technical drivers but overall great.
Ease of use and that they are always looking at ways to improve functionality.
There is not an easy way to just add a note or remark to a status. Also there is not an easy way to set an alert for the temperature sensor..there are always 2 entries that have to be made.
Sometimes your driver is busy doing his/her job and unable to answer your call right away. I like having the real time visibility on my entire fleet. Knowing where my drivers are enables me to make quick decisions on who to assign new tasks, without having to call multiple drivers and wait for them to call me back to find out their exact locations.
Sometimes the gateway gets disconnected due to terrain and lack of a proper phone signal. However, all phone carriers have the same problem. When you reacquire the signal, the data gets updated and you're back on track.
The software has everthing you might expect from an eld but with an extra kick. The ifta miles is perfect and it aleviates a lot of time when dealing with the ifta due dates. The gps fuction is acurate so no need to bother the drivers or worry when the drivers dont answer. It also has a fuction to crate a temporary gps link for the trucks wich makes it easy for our clients. No need for them to bother us with the location of the truck if they can know precisely where it is with a clik of a bottom. all in all in really happy with it
The software layout is hard to get used too. Things are not where you will instintively have them. Everthing is there, but it just seems to be scattered around the tabs. you get used to it, but for the beginning, youll get lost
I am quite satisfied with the software. We had a couple of issues early in our program rollout. However, support was right there to help us out with those problems.
It is easy to use, for the most part intuitive and clean looking. Functionality is decent, and I like that the map is connected to data so you can get data points when you float the map routes.
There are a few areas that could use improvement. Reporting is my biggest issue right now. It won't report on my sensors. Seems to be tied to one type of temp sensor that I have but engineering has been slow to tell me what is going on or resolve the issue.
Software is updated constantly and support quality is pretty high. Requests for new features are actually used and seen in new version of the website and software
No way to automate uploading of information to the server. You have to manually upload files to batch import.
Provides a solid foundation for asset management, location tracking and electronic logging
Lacking reporting features of many alternatively available products
Accurate. Ease of use. All encompassing. ALWAYS improving and feature packed. NEXT generation LIVE tracking, 3 second delay, this is absolutely amazing.
There is not much, just a couple of features I'd like to see implemented, HOWEVER to their credit, they have added things I have asked for which is MAGICAL.
The information that is available is great and I use it daily. I look at harsh events, the IFTA fuel report (for mileage reasons only) and publish a weekly safety report to management and our drivers.
Can be clumsy on the website navigating around the pages. It seem like you should be able to navigate from any point to the next without having to go back to the home screen.
I haven't run into anything yet. I would like to get it to where I can 100% trained on it though. I feel at times we are not utilizing it to its full potential.
Least liked aspect is lag time in driver updates. Sometimes driver is 20 minutes up the road and not where they are represented on map. Also can take a bit for turn by turn tracking to catch up. Finally, dislike that if App is running in background of phone or other device, ELD is showing as disconnected. Once it is turned on it should show active.
