There are two things that I like about ClassDojo. First, it's a way to communicate with parents without having to call them. For some reason, they will respond to me via ClassDojo before they will a phone call. Second, when I give or take points, students can hear it. For sure, this helps improve behavior. ClassDojo is like a modern day form of classical conditioning.
I have had trouble removing students from my class if they switched homerooms. Eventually, I figured it out.
I love being able to communicate with my daughter's teacher through this app. It helps me to stay up to date with information and also allows him to communicate with the parents.
I've used this app for a few years now and have no cons as of yet.
Classdojo is so much more than just a behavior management tool for your classroom. It is a great way to communicate with parents, display photos/videos on your story and students can even display work in the portfolio area.
The only thing I would like to change, is being able to add a note to a dojo a few minutes after you've given/taken the dojo. If you don't do it instantaneously then you cannot go back to add a note.
I honestly love everything about ClassDojo. It does everything I want it to do. It would be neat if students had a way to access their account and see their details without me displaying it for them.
I use Class Dojo for communicating with my children's teachers. They provide on time updates of what they did in class and reminders for assignments that will be due. This tool is beneficial to their learning because it allows me to directly interact with the teacher and receive faster responses.
The fact that our correspondence are email based causes me to miss an update or have to constantly search for it.
I have direct contact with my kids' teachers and can message them if I need something. Teachers are able to easily message all of their students' parents and fill them in on the daily/weekly activities. The Dojo points have been a huge motivator for my son to perform better in the classroom and get excited about school!
The messaging was confusing at first. I didn't realize that when I sent a message to the teacher it goes directly to her and not all of the parents. The way it's set up, the teacher can send a message to the whole class and then each parent can respond directly to the teacher. That wasn't clear initially. All of your contact is in one chain. I also wish you could download pictures that the teacher posts!
Ease of use, quick response from customer service, continually growing and improving
Parents can't communicate with one another.
I love that I am able to receive daily updates with photos on what my grandkids are doing, how they are doing, and if they are having a not so good day (which happens). I can easily communicate with the teacher through the app......
There is absolutely nothing that I like least about this app/website, everything is truly awesome. I really love it.....
This is an amazing way to bring teachers, students and their parents together in one place. Prior to ClassDojo my children's school was utilizing social media to the extent that it was possible along with email. Even with these avenues of communication we all struggled to get on the same page when it came to lessons, classroom news and coming events. Class Dojo made it possible to have one location where all forms of communication could take place.
The only Con for me (which really isn't a con per say) Is that not all the class parents participated in the Class Dojo. I think if everyone was participating it would have been really fabulous. I am not sure if it was not enough advertising and pushing on the teacher's part of lack of interest or understanding on some of the parent's part. I think for the upcoming school year I will suggest to the room parent to really push for 100% participation to really get the most out of the program.
I love the connection to parents and the portfolios for students to use. This is an amazing app for teachers. I love the positive behavior system. It has the consequence system built in too, but is so focused on the positive and keeps parents connected! I love the messaging system to communicate with parents as well as the storyboard to post pictures with parents.
I did not like the notifications for the portfolio being removed from access on the app after approval. They were on the app after approval in the story, so you could go and like and comment on them after approving them. You can no longer do this. I also do no like that customer support did not communicate with me after contacting them about this problem. I use this feature daily and it’s now a struggle to use. Someone posted they dealt with the inquiry. They did not. I posted dissatisfied and reposted a question and still have not received help. Not sure what caused the change with this, usually customer service in the past has been great.
It allows me to easily track and analyze student behavior, while making it fun for the kids. It also allows me to easily connect with parents, or sometimes others (therapists, teachers, social workers, etc.), and share their child's behavior throughout the day.
No negatives that I can think of. Except maybe of a child creates their own monster at home, I can't override it if they decide they want a different monster.
ClassDojo is an excellent application which gather teachers, students and parents in one friendly environment. Teachers can create virtual class, assign task and give scores to the students. They can also send reports, photos and messages to parents through the message service. ClassDojo's interface is similar to a social media, thus familiar to everyone.
It would be great if ClassDojo allows users to determine custom size for their graphics/photos. At this moment, most of the graphics in ClassDojo required to be square-sized.
Free! This is the best software to connect parents and teachers. Teachers already spend a lot of their own money on their classroom, so what's great about ClassDojo is their promise that ClassDojo will always stay free to teachers. It's easy to setup and can be customized for the individual teacher and class. Plus they continue to add awesome features.
When I first started using this software I was teaching overseas where English was not the first language. Allow the icons were very useful, it would have been helpful to have more customization of the behavior icons and students icons so that my students would have better understood when I added points to their character (all the girls wanted pink in their character but there was only so many pink characters). ClassDojo has added the ability to upload your own character but as a teacher I wouldn't have had time to upload the characters needed for my 7 different classes of 15-20 students.
ClassDojo has been a program I have used successfully for classroom management throughout the school year. It has helped me communicate with parents regarding behavior throughout the day. This program also allows you to keep track of student success by adding and taking away points, if necessary. It informs parents right away of how many points each student has during the day. If they have questions regarding anything, they can directly message you to discuss it. Students can also submit assignments to cut down on pen and paper worksheets and activities.
I wish there was a "mute" or "do not disturb" button option. Sometimes, having parents directly message you during the day can be distracting. If there was an option like this, I would be able to message parents after school instead of having to resist speaking with them in the moment.
I love being able to take pictures of what my students are doing and share them instantly with their parents. Receiving parent feedback and helping them feel like more of a part of the classroom is a win-win.
I wish the point system was easier for the students to access in upper elementary. It is still a great system, but they are ready for some new features by 5th grade.
I wish you can upload pictures to email parents of documents and other pictures. It works on the phone but not the laptop.
ClassDojo is the software that I have been waiting for! I love the ability to stay connected with all school and classroom activities. There is a direct line between teachers and parents in particular that I can appreciate. Photos, videos, bulletins, and private messages can be shared as well, and the students can create their own ClassDojo account to connect and upload artwork, homework, etc. There is a "like" and "comment" system similar to those found on social media, however content between accounts is not open to the public and can only be seen by other members and parents involved in the school.
The notification system could be a little more refined. Occasionally there is a few hour delay between messages being sent and received, and this can cause problems if the teacher is trying to reach the parents.
I Absolutely Love how it keeps me connected & up to date daily with how well or not so well my kids are doing in school with their behavioral charts & updates or messages from their teachers.
I have used it for doing on 6 years now since all 4 of my boys were all finally in school and I have honestly had no issues with the program or the app other then it freezes randomly if I am logged in for a long period of time
The only real issue I had with this was that even though I was on my phone using the app to track behaviors, I really didn't like setting the example of having my phone in my hand in front of students. Using it on my ipad somehow looked more professional.
Classdojo helps me communicate more effectively with parents that I don't see often, and even the ones I do! It's set up like a social media site, making it easy and accessible to all parents. Via the app or the website, they can private message me. When this happens it will give me a notification on my phone, for exame "Joe will be arriving late today due to a doctor's appointment", and gives me the option to private message them as well.
Once I printed out invitations for the class at the beginning of the year it was difficult to find where to print out new invitations for the two new students I got later in the year. Eventually I just sent the parents a link to accept via their email, which worked as well.
My least favorite aspect is not concerning software, but that some parents would like photos of the class while others have declined permission to have their student's picture taken. It makes it rough trying to figure out who can be in a picture and who cannot. I enjoy talking with parents with live time updates on their student's behaviors, but I struggle with the picture aspect.
My classroom loves ClassDojo. It's incredible to be able to reward positive behavior and provide consequences for negative behavior by adding or taking away points. It's very easy to communicate with students' parents through Dojo as well which saves me a lot of time from emailing parents individually. My students really enjoy creating their own Dojo monster avatar to represent them. It's easy to add and detract points right from my phone as I circulate around my classroom.
I truly love Dojo. I have no complaints!
Oh there’s so much this software can do and so much GOOD it can do. I will focus, however, on my favorite amenities as that is the prompt for this section.
I don’t actually have a con with the mechanics of the program or the amenities it provides, but one part my students may not be overly fond of is that if I want to show one student how many points they have earned or how many offenses they have made, there is no privacy feature, so that one student can see the points of all their classmates. It’s often too big of a secret to keep. A student with less points then their classmates may get a bit crestfallen at having fallen behind while the student far ahead of their peers gets distracted with gloating.
The thing I like the most about Class Dojo is my ability to communicate directly and indirectly with my children's teachers. I no longer have to wait for returned phone calls or email responses as I can utilize this application to reach my children teacher as well as monitor their progress.
The only issue I have had with Class Dojo is it inability at times to push notifications to my device in a timely manner. There have been occasions where I have received messages from my child's teacher and didn't receive the notification until I had already picked my child up from school.
The only con has been addressed recently. That was the inability to "cash in" points for use with a token economy system, and they have corrected that!
The program puts numerous classroom management and communication tools all in one convenient, easy to use location. You can monitor and track behavior, set and issue rewards and accomplishments and share information with families.
The program does take some training and practice to get used to all of the many features. It is also formatted toward somewhat younger students so it can lose its effectiveness after a certain age/grade level.
I liked the ease of setting up classroom lists. It was fun for the kids to pick a Avatar. They loved the visual. I also liked that I could set up my own expectations each day. The sound effect for the negative behavior was also motivating. I didn't have to single anyone out verbally and could keep on teaching. It quickly grabbed their attention if they were not on track. Also having them go up and add their own positive points was rewarding. Also the kids and parents can see their progress at home.
I really don't dislike anything. It is easy to use on computer.
What I liked most about ClassDojo is that it is an engaging, interactive classroom management tool for elementary school teachers. It is a convenient, multipurpose software with a toolkit of features designed to support teachers in the classroom. It not only allows teachers to reward students for positive behaviors, but it also includes a digital portfolio for students to showcase their work. Additionally, I love that this software enhances parent-teacher communication by enabling teachers to message parents and keep in contact with each other, especially about students’ progress and daily classroom happenings. Finally, it is free software!
What I liked least about this software is that it is suitable for younger students and may be immature for high school students. Additionally, it focuses heavily on a reward-punishment points system that encourages extrinsic rather than intrinsic behaviors. Also, it may not always be feasible to be on the application constantly to reward or punish students with the points system. Furthermore, it does not sufficiently track learning other than the digital portfolios feature.
- Very easy to use.. great way to communicate between teachers and parents
One thing I really DON"T like is the lack of way to download the pictures posted. This is restricted on the app level. I actually opened a ticket with ClassDojo and they did replay and told me this was by design due to privacy issue (some other students might not like it)
What I like most about this software is that I stay up-to-date on what's going on with my child in class. I am able to see homework that was given.
What I like least about it would be that when the teacher post certain links for the student the students cannot copy the link or click on the link which means that us as parents have to log on to our class dojo and get the link for that child and I believe that it should be more convenient especially if that homework or that link is directly for the child.
Class Dojo is like a teacher's digital classroom management assistant! There's lots to love! - First, it's free. Who doesn't like free? - Next, it's extremely user-friendly. Within 15 minutes you can set-up and learn to navigate the features and layout. In just 5 more minutes, you can roll it out to your classroom. Teacher's are already lacking time, and the simplicity of this platform is wonderful.
This is not a con to ClassDojo, but just an observation - ClassDojo will not solve all of your classroom management issues. It is not a quick, easy fix, so don't view it that way. You have to carefully consider usage if you want this to be a main ingredient in your classroom. In that train of thought, it could cause students to act even more negatively because they're now able to gain a bigger audience and receive more attention. Once again, this is not a ClassDojo problem, I just want future users to be aware.
I really like that this software allows teachers to quickly and effectively communicate with parents and caregivers. I like not only being able to receive group messages and pictures of what's going on in my kid's classrooms, I like that the teachers can also send individual messages. There is also a pretty cool Report feature that allows teachers to send reports such as Positive, Neutral, or Needs Work and the can assign a specific number to each. It's a nice way to follow the progress of students, especially in a large classroom or large school where individual parent/teacher contact is difficult.
I don't like that ClassDojo doesn't automatically move up to the next grade as your child moves up to the next grade. In my experience of using Class Dojo for two years now, I found that I had to manually adjust with a new student ID and basically re-set-up my kids' information. I also don't like that I get e-mail notifications, but can't access ClassDojo from my desktop. I can only access it through the app on my phone.
I liked using ClassDojo in my classroom as well as for piano lessons. In both cases, I only awarded positive points, never negative - per my teaching philosophy. In my classroom, students received points for participating in conversations, being helpful, as well as respectful and responsible. For piano lessons, I gave points for practicing, bringing their necessary materials, and playing with the correct style required for the piece. In both cases I was very pleased with ClassDojo.
When using ClassDojo it highlights behavior - positive or negative. Depending on how you use it, it can make students stand out in a negative way.
Class dojo is an amazing software product. The software is a great tool to keep teachers connected with students and parents. Sometimes notes or texts get lost and this is a one stop app for keeping everything together. I recommend this app for All users, especially children.
When using any software there is always one thing we can find that one may not like or even want to change. Using Class Dojo is an exception, there isn't one thing that I would change about it.
I love that it allows teachers to keep in touch with families easily. Parents appreciate that they receive updates each time their child achieves something, and students are more eager to participate knowing their parents are in the loop. Especially with EL families, the ability to send quick messages helps relieve anxiety and allow for some flexibility with language.
There really aren't any drawbacks. There is an adjustment period when you first use it as you try to remember to incorporate it into your routines, but it then becomes second nature.
I love that it's an app that I can carry around all day on my phone or ipad. It's immediate and keeps track of points for you! Class Dojo is customizable for any and all needs of classroom or child.
I really don't know that I would change anything about it! It is difficult to stop and record behavior regardless of system, but this streamlines the process and minimizes the distractions.
I like that it keeps me up to date on all of the activities of my children from behavior to posting pictures of the class activities and celebrations. If one of my kids is having a rough day, the teacher can reach out to me and let me know what is going on.

I love how involved students get in looking for positive feedback. CD also incorporates some great growth mindset videos that are appropriate for many ages. In addition, one can add and delete behaviors according to your classroom's expectations. You can choose multiple students for feedback at a time or just one. There's an attendance function, a group maker, and a way to get parents involved with messages and photos.
There's really nothing that the developers haven't thought of that would be a negative. It's easy to use, can be used by multiple teachers, and helps with positive behavior management system.
This app is amazing to stay connected with my kids' teachers. I can easily communicate with them and they can keep me informed with what is going on in the classroom and at the school. It's like social media for my kids' school
I wish there were other ways to interact with other parents to share information. Sometimes I'd like to ask a question to other parents and I am unable to.
ClassDojo the software/App itself is excellent. Never had an issue with it working like it should. It's a great communication tool for connecting parents with teachers, counselors, and others that are involved in your children's daily life. Makes you feel involved and makes teachers accessible. It's great to see pictures and videos of what your children are doing.
The cost of ClassDojo Beyond which gives you the ability to bring the rewards system home seems extremely high for what you get. I see the value in continuity but not at $8.99 a month, when I can use another free app with many more features. It also seems that parents who do not have internet access could easily miss out on important information from teachers who use Dojo as their main form of communication.
I love that I can see my son’s behavior report, teacher’s announcements, school principal announcements, and photos all in one application. This is what the school uses primarily to direct message teachers and specials staff, including counselor, to communicate daily information. It’s more simple than email as I don’t have to remember any addresses and use a separate app. My son loves that he can make his own “monster” too and see what his teachers say positively about him.
When I am not connected to WiFi I am unable to update messages through the app even though I’ve been sent a notification on my phone that shows more of the message downloaded.
This app was recommended to me to help with class participation in the classes I teach. I wanted to be able to keep track of what students were accomplishing in real time. Some examples of things I wanted to track were answering a question correctly, answering a question incorrectly but persisting to get the right answer, helping another student, or asking an insightful question. Basically, I wanted to use this to help with formative assessments in my classes. I felt like documenting these thing in real time would give me data that would help me teach better, identify issues that students had frequently, and report information to parents or administrators if something came up.
I used it for several years, and it was OK. Setting up the categories that I wanted to keep track of took some time but it wasn't too hard. And, I was able to copy categories among classes. I also found it someone easy to set up classes. But actually using it wasn't fast enough for me.
I like that this App allows me to stay connected with my small children throughout the day. I was uneasy about leaving my kids with school personnel because they had previously been homeschooled, however with the use of this app, all my fears were abated.
There is very little to dislike about this app. I am able to communicate with my kids' teachers and get updates about their progress, I know what's going on during the school day, and I am able to communicate effectively with teachers and even Principal.
I think that this is a very easy software to you use. They classroom teacher simply send you a code that you enter so that you were able to enter the virtual classroom
The only cons to this program is that it is another app that could potential he take up space on your phone
My favorite part of using this app to communicate with my kiddos teachers is that I am alerted right away if they message me directly. Teachers are also able to upload pics throughout the day of events and tasks the students are doing. Super cute!
I wish we didn't have to pay for the subscription option, my 6 year old always wants to play and customize his avatar guy on there, but it is all purchase only. I feel we are missing out on a lot of aspects of the app, because we only have the free version.
I like that I can choose the positive and negative behaviors. I also like that I can communicate with parents through the software.
As of right now, I do not have any cons about this software. I am able to use ClassDojo in my classroom to help keep track of individual student behaviors and the behaviors of the whole class.
Offered incentives for the child to strive for. Made it easy to track behavior patterns. Somewhat easy to use
Had some difficulty personalizing the software to meet outer needs. Somewhat difficult to use at first
ClassDojo is a must have for creating a culture of respect, accountability to parents and incentives for students to perform at their optimal level. Fun and easy to use, students love the interactive Dojo points they earn when they perform. The software is free to use and customizable. It is not only for educators. It can be used in multiple settings. Points for certain behaviors can be set. The software can be used on laptops, tablets and even phones. The software creatively allows for students to choose their monster, giving them ownership. It allows the user to inform parents of how students are doing and even tells you if the parents have opened the message.
The only problem that I encountered was that it minimized the actual conversations that I had with parents in person. Like any software, the user must be extra careful this does not replace parents coming and talking with the teacher. Many parents thought ClassDojo replaced the annual parent conferences. I had to let them know that this is an essential tool but does not replace us meeting together.
Since parents have access to view your platform, they may wonder why their student did not receive any points or why their child lost many points during the day. Although, I welcome parent connections, parents may base their biases on the number of points their child has received. Secondly, the software caters mostly to lower elementary. Upper elementary does not value the program as much due to the hindrance towards an abstract mindset. Students within upper elementary (3-5 grade) need something that appeals towards reasoning and collaboration in order to engage them fully. I prefer Bloomz with upper education because it allows for more involvement with parents and families.
Class Dojo is the perfect classroom management tool. The ability to set any behaviors, good or bad, AND the points they give to or take away from each student make it easy to personalize each class you have. Parents can see a summary each day, if you so choose, and this can even be used as a parent contact tool!
I have not found anything about this software I do not love. It's everything you need for classroom management.
ClassDojo is free for teachers! There is no extra purchases that need to be done. It can be used on the computer or on a iPad. You can also communicate with parents through the program. You can text them pictures and messages and they can respond. With some parents, this is easier than email or a phone call to get in contact with them. And it saves everything ever sent.
You have to reward students all the time and have the program up daily. Once you start, you can not stop.
Nothing, This is a game changer for parenting. AMAZING!
I love that it is user friendly, both for students and parents. I can use this software to communicate with parents and it is keeps a digital record of all conversations. I can make announcement and create reminders for parents. After the message is sent out, I can see who has read the renouncement and who I still need to contact. Students can customize their avatars to make it feel more personalized. The parents can see how their child is doing instantly. This helps them to reward and reinforce postie behaviors at home.
The app only works with up to date devices. I work in a low income school, and some parents do not have the latest devices and/or cannot update. It feels like they are excluded from the conversation.
I love using ClassDojo for my classrooms. The kids love the monsters, it gives them instant feedback as to how they are doing, kids can add digital items to their portfolios, and parents have access to how their child is doing. With the app (and the computer), parents and teachers can communicate in real time. I can send pictures to all the parents or just a few or one. Parents love the ease of use, kids love the feedback and I love it all!
I have not come across anything I don't like about ClassDojo.
I wish the additional features weren't a charged subscription, we have a ton of extra charges already, but that's really the only negative part we've encountered.
Fácil de usar.
Been using this software for three years now and there's really nothing negative I can say about it!
We have been using ClassDojo school wide for 2 years and it has been great in improving and tracking classroom behavior! It is easy to set up and use, and students love creating their own avatars. Students love to earn points and our administration holds monthly classroom behavior contests with rewards such as ice cream and pizza parties. We can connect with parents to share information and classroom happenings, which has improved our parent involvement. It is wonderful that it is free!
I have no complaints about Class Dojo!!!
Student reports only go back one week. It would be great if they were saved in the app for a little longer, perhaps a month. I have no other complaints beyond this though, it's a wonderful tool for parents and teachers alike.
ClassDojo is a very user-friendly application for teachers. I would say that it is suitable for lower grades 1-4. Teachers can award or deduct points to their students for both positive and negative reinforcement. One of the great features is the messaging board where teachers can send instant messages home to parents or share photos of what they are doing in class. These messages are confined to only the parent of the child and no other message posts or responses from the parent can be seen by other parents. There is also sounds allocated to the awarding of positive or negative behaviour that makes students perk up and check their own behaviours. I also love the animated video clips by the ClassDojo characters that teach students things like growth mindset.
As a grade 6 teacher, I find that the avatars for this application are more suitable for younger grades as upper elementary/middle school pupils are too cool for this look.
This program is great at helping to connect with parents, and provide a way for students to show case their work and positive behaviour. There are some neat tools that have been added that allow for teachers to randomly pick people or generate groups, do attendance, set timers and set goals. They now allow students to join your class using their Google accounts which makes it a lot easier than before when you had to scan the QR code or enter a text code.
Now that they have adding the signing in with Google, everything is AWESOME!
I love Class Dojo! This is such a fabulous product. I love how simple it is to use and how much the kids enjoy it. I love that the students can customize their own avatar to be whatever they want. I like how you can communicate with the parents through Dojo. It is like sending them a text message, which makes it easy for the parents to read and to understand. I love how you can add and take away points from those being awesome and from those being a off task. It has a ton of benefits and just is a great class management tool.
I do not have any dislikes about this software.
Class Dojo is a versatile platform that makes communication from teachers to parents and caregivers easy and efficient. As a parent user, I love Class Dojo for the quick updates I see from teachers throughout the day or week, as they frequently post pictures of what is happening in the classroom. Only those with an access code can see the updates. Teachers can easily communicate with the whole cohort of parents, as well as individually with parents; I receive opted to receive updates every time grades are entered (notifications can be turned off), and there is also a way to send and receive individual messages with any of the student's teachers. If there are multiple children in the family, all of their reports, teachers, pictures and classes can be listed under one account. Class Dojo is a one-stop shop for a parent or caregiver who wants to keep up with what is happening with their student.
Honestly, I haven't found anything lacking for my purposes with this app.
The thing I like most about this software is being able to send and receive messages from my child's teachers and having the option to comment on pictures and videos that are sent directly to me or posted on the classroom wall.
Least like about the software: the alien emojis and not having the option to send videos to the teachers
I had no problems with the app's functions. I wish it had mini games or some sort of activities for the kids to complete, but it was OK. It served up to its purpose, which was a way to see what your child does during class and communicate with the teacher.
Nothing really. Sorry. If I have to say something, it could be the possibility to watch my kid at school, as long as the teacher posted the videos. (very short in any case)
I write as a mother of a 2 year girl. At the beginning of the schoolyear parents had a regular notebook where teachers wrote everything we needed. One day, we were told that we would stop using our notebooks and switch to Class Dojo instead. Most parents were delighted, but for me it didn't work. The teacher took pictures and uploaded them but for privacy reasons they were very blurry and not very clear. We couldn't download them either. Notes were passed using this app but we could not contact the teacher back, so there was no real communication between school and families.
The app is so easy to use. My child's teacher is able to connect with me instantly about anything from behavior, homework, or just to tell me that my child is doing well. I enjoy getting notifications from the app thru my phone and from emails as well. This app makes sure that parents stay in the know about their child's education. This app is also very child friendly and very colorful.
There are no cons. I really enjoy this app.
This is a great product that I switch in and out of through out the year. You walk around with your phone or iPad and you can quickly award or penalize students. In a matter of a click or two. It really is easy to use and gives a great edge to classroom management. I have seen teachers have their data always displayed on their smart board to show where kids are. I personally have it opened on my computer so when I do reward or penalize the sound that goes with each is put over the speakers in my room.
I like Dojo for what it started as. Like most products it seems to be trying to be more than it was intended to be. It is trying to be an all in one connection to parents and lessons etc. I hope it stays simple as it tries to be bigger.
Would be nice if a seating chart was available, especially when I sub because learning names is a little challenging. Would also be nice to see an integration with the students where the students can log in and see private messages from the teacher instead of being pointed out in front of the class - which sometimes encourages negative behavior.
I love that I could connect parents to the classroom through pictures and dojo points - I also love that the program adds more features all the time that are easily utilized - made by people who understand teachers and the classroom.
There isn't much I don't like about Class Dojo. I think there is a lot to explore in the program and it is easily adjustable for the different age groups you might work with.
One thing I would like to see changed about this service is having the groups and individuals on the same page and not have to change between screens. I would also like to continue playing the music while i. A different windo on ClassDojo. They could create a small music player on the corner of the screen so it doesn't go away when you need to do other things.
I loved class dojo when I taught in traditional classroom and I still love it with online teaching with VIPKID. It is helpful to track student behavior. I use it in my online classroom to keep my feedback and info about each student.
When I was in the traditional classroom, I would have liked being able to share my class roster and behaviors with other teachers. When my students went to PE or Art class, the teacher could pull my students up without logging into my account to change their behavior as needed. Just a suggestion.
I like that students/classes can be shared with other teachers. If a student does well in Art or has an issue in Music, that teacher can click on Dojo and either give or take away Dojo points from the student. You don't have to wait until the student returns to the classroom and try to find time to talk to the teacher about the issue. It is super quick and easy to use. Bring your ClassDojo up on a computer, iPad, cell phone, etc. and have it open and ready for use. When you need to give or add points, you can do so immediately. If I give a point to a student in my room, the teacher is automatically notified on her device with the point popping up on the student's icon. It's a great way to communicate not only between classrooms regarding shared students, but also with parents that sign up. It includes an email feature with parents that is super handy.
Sometimes it is a little tricky to set up the sharing of a classroom with other teachers. It would be nice to have more of a step by step set of directions to go along with Class Dojo. The directions are included, but it would be helpful if they were more concise and step by step and addressed each area.
What I like least about the software is that it is a pain to add all the students into. If it would sync with Google Classroom to load our students in for us that would make it 100 times better.
I can message teachers/parents and get an immediate response. I send and receive notifications about school events and activities. Teachers can post pictures of the students directly to parents when they are working on school activities. It's great to "see" what is going on in the classroom. The Dojo points is a great way to keep track of good behavior and behavior that needs work. No more sending notes home that you home the parent/teacher will see and read. You know they are getting the message with Class Dojo. The kids love to watch their Dojo points add up to earn rewards. It is not fun to see them lose points for bad behavior, but this helps them learn there are consequences to their actions.
As a parent, I cannot see their Dojo points. I see how they earn the points and how many points each behavior is worth. So many times my kids say, "Look at how many points I have now!" They are so proud of their work, but I cannot see it :(
